of Randolph and Montgomery
Millard was born April 19, 1919, in Murchison, Henderson County, the son of Aaron Walter Sanders and Mary Jeanetta Gothard and the grandson of Jesse Sanders and Mary Amanda Pickering. His great grandparents were Isaac and Elizabeth Sanders, who were born in the Randolph/Montgomery County area of North Carolina and married in 1836 in Jackson County, Alabama. Millard served overseas for thirty-one months, first in North Africa and Italy, and later in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He died April 1, 1945.
